Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) takes its name from Clarus, the Latin word for clear. This perennial herb is native to the northern Mediterranean and some areas in Central Asia and North Africa. It grows from May to September and can reach up to five feet in height. It produces colourful flowers that bloom in lilac to mauve bunches.
Clary Sage contains a number of compounds that offer beneficial effects, including alpha terpineol, sclareol, linalool, neryl acetate, caryophyllene, geramcrene-D, and geraniol.
