Essential oils and the Digestive System

Essential oils are extremely concentrated essences derived from organic plants. They are generally extracted by cold pressing or steaming the plants. Essential oils have been used in traditional and alternative medicine for centuries, and now, the Western world and culture are beginning to take note. Essential oils can help manage a wide array of illnesses, including digestive issues such as constipation.

The peculiarity of essential oils is that they should not be consumed directly. Although they are safe, some essential oils require precaution. Various essential oils have different effects on the human body; some can help with digestive conditions such as constipation. Essential oils might relax the body, for instance, or stimulate muscle contractions and make it easier for your overall digestive system to work.

Why using essential oils can be effective for my digestive system?

Essential oils are extracted from natural plants to be an effective treatment in alternative medicine for constipation. Using essential oils can give one of the safest and the best results.

Ideally, you must combine two drops of pure essential oil and one teaspoon of slightly warm carrier oil, such as coconut oil. You should then massage this mixture on your abdomen and inhale the aroma. This massage will enhance bowel movement, and you will relax your muscles when you inhale. Studies show that inhaling oils can be as effective as using them straight on the skin.

Mix up to 5 drops of ginger oil into 1 ounce of any carrier oil, such as grapeseed or coconut, to boost your digestive system.

Fennel

Fennel seed is a potent digestive stimulant. When ingested, it can act as a laxative and treat constipation quickly. It can also be mixed with a small amount of carrier oil and massaged on the abdomen. You can do this up to three times a day whenever needed.

DigestZen

Nicknamed the ‘tummy tamer’, DigestZen supports healthy digestive function, promotes overall digestive health, and eases occasional stomach upset. This powerful essential oil blend is enriched with the power of Anise, Peppermint, Ginger, Coriander, Caraway, Tarragon, and Fennel. It also helps with nausea, bloating, heartburn, gas, reflux, and indigestion.

Clove

Clove essential oil is quite concentrated and contains several strong antioxidants that reduce inflammation and improve digestion. These factors can help your digestion process run smoothly and eliminate constipation. Some studies show you can even use clove in aromatherapy massages to boost digestion.

You can mix clove oil into a carrier oil, massage it, or put it in an air diffuser and inhale it.

Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil has many antispasmodic properties that work well in relaxing the muscles of your digestive tract and making your bowels looser, hence relieving constipation. Studies show that it can even treat irritable bowel syndrome when used properly.

Lemon essential oil

Lemon oil is rich in antioxidants and can reduce inflammation in the digestive system. It also helps with bowel movement and reduces constipation. You can either apply lemon oil to the abdomen or diffuse it.

Essential Oils and Excretory System

If you have ever suffered from problems with the excretory system, like a urinary tract infection (UTI), you understand how irritating and painful they can be. Excretory system illnesses can be severe and often difficult to treat. Most people, particularly women, face problems regularly with conditions like UTI. Hence, doctors usually prescribe multiple doses of antibiotics to eliminate the infection.

However, with additional research and growing awareness about antibiotic-resistant bacteria, you should look for a corresponding way to manage recurring UTIs, like using essential oils.

Why using essential oils can be effective for my Excretory System?

The excretory system develops problems when bacteria are abundant. For illnesses like UTI, this is generally caused by the bacteria Escherichia coli. To cure an excretory system issue, essential oil must kill the type of bacteria responsible.

Essential oils can be used in several ways. They can be dispersed using the air in a diffuser or applied directly to the skin many times after being combined with a carrier oil. Some oils should never be applied directly to the skin and can be used only if diluted. Essential oils are also particularly useful when you are unsure which bacteria is causing your excretory system problems.

Juniper

A recent study shows that Juniper essential oil helps slow down or stop the growth of E. coli bacteria. It is particularly useful in treating bacterial strains that resist other treatments and can kill antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

The study also compared the effectiveness of Juniper and other essential oils and found that Juniper contains higher antimicrobial properties and can fight bacteria such as E. coli.

Thyme

Thyme essential oil effectively inhibits the growth of any unwanted bacteria. The oil also shows promising results in preventing UTIs from happening again and again. In addition to applying thyme, you should also consider using it in aromatherapy. Diffusing essential oils and inhaling them is a very effective way to protect you against most side effects or allergic reactions to the skin.

Bergamot

Research shows that Bergamot can effectively kill viruses, fungi, bacteria, and most other sources of infection. It can also act as an antioxidant. When used in combination or separately, bergamot can actually inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli, among others.

Frankincense

Frankincense essential oil can combat an extensive range of bacteria. Hence, It is considered a good option when you have trouble figuring out what kind of bacteria is causing trouble in your excretory system. A recent study shows that the different compounds found in Frankincense can explain the reason for its antibacterial properties. The study found that Frankincense may slow down or even kill the growth of Listeria innocua, S. aureus, E. coli, and numerous other pathogens.

Essential Oils and Gut Health

You cannot be in shape and healthy if your gut is unhealthy. An unhealthy gut can give rise to many conditions, including digestive, emotional, cognitive, and even immune conditions. Hence, you need to take care of your gut health, and essential oils can help you there. They work well in protecting and healing the digestive tract. You can even consider essential oils partners to your total-body wellness dynamic.

Why essential oils can be effective for my Gut Health?

Till recently, antibiotics have helped us fight off many bacteria, but they have also made many bacteria resistant to themselves.

All this time, our bodies have been supporting, partnering, and basically functioning properly because of healthy gut bacteria. In this symbiotic relationship, the bacteria form the focus component of the body’s primary functions, which include immune responses and digestion.

You need to understand that the precursor to overall wellness is derived from achieving the perfect bacterial balance in the gut, even if you are making lifestyle changes, following a new diet, taking medication, or using a remedy such as aromatherapy.

When we talk about gut health, essential oils can act as a healer, offer protection, prevent bacterial imbalance, and offer symptom relief from upset stomach.
