Also known as the white jade orchid tree or white champaca, the michelia x alba is one of more than 200 varieties of magnolia. This particular variety flourishes in Southeast Asia and can grow to almost 30 metres in height. Twice per year it bears flowers with a fruity, floral aroma comparable to the scent of champagne.
Magnolia blossoms can be harvested in summer and again in late autumn or early winter and must be hand-picked during the early morning or late evening in order to distil essential oil from the petals. Magnolia is considered a precious essential oil due to the difficulty in growing and harvesting the flowers.
doTERRA Magnolia Touch combines magnolia oil with fractioned coconut oil, so it is ready to apply directly to the skin. Topical application has soothing and moisturising benefits for the skin, whilst aromatic use soothes the mind and reduces feelings of anxiety.
