Why Quality Matters

Essential oil purity matters. If you use oils that have been adulterated, contaminated, or loaded with synthetic fillers, you will not experience the full extent of the essential oils’ benefits. Furthermore, low-quality essential oils can pose serious health risks.

Sourcing Essential Oils

When sourcing essential oils, several factors can affect quality. For example, if toxic chemicals are added to the soil, this affects the chemistry of the plants. Furthermore, the distillation process, temperature, and the use of toxic solvents and chemicals for extraction also affect the purity and potency of the essential oil.  Variations in the natural chemistry of oils are permitted, as this is a legitimate expression of nature.

Essential oil suppliers have the incredible task of searching the globe for the highest quality compounds that produce the best possible essential oils nature can provide. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by creating trusted alliances with honest growers and distillers. Choosing a supplier who is well-known for quality and efficacy, allows you to rest assured that the product is pure, and safe to use.

Essential Oil Purity

Purity is dōTERRA’s top priority. From day one, dōTERRA made it their mission to share pure, quality essential oils with the world. However, without a definitive standard for essential oil purity, dōTERRA decided to set the standard themselves.

Many essential oil companies choose not to enforce high testing standards for their oils, instead skipping critical steps in the testing process to save time or money. Unfortunately, without proper testing measures, it’s impossible to guarantee that an essential oil is truly “pure.”

To ensure that each bottle of essential oil is pure and free from contaminants and synthetic fillers, dōTERRA created the CPTG® “Certified Pure Tested Grade®” protocol. This process includes a rigorous 8-step examination of every batch of oil, along with third-party testing to guarantee transparency.

Testing Essential Oils

The first round of testing takes place shortly after distillation when each oil is reviewed for its chemical composition. The second round of testing takes place when the oils arrive at the facility, and the third round of testing occurs as the oils are packaged into bottles. Each test confirms that dōTERRA essential oils are free of contaminants and that no unexpected alterations occurred during production.

At dōTERRA, they value quality and purity above all else. Rigorous testing ensures that you receive only the purest, highest quality essential oils for maximum benefits without health risks.
