Extracted from the fragrant Ylang Ylang flower, this essential oil has many powerful abilities when used aromatically, topically, and internally.
Ylang Ylang trees are commonly grown across areas of Africa, and tropical regions of Asia. The tree features drooping branches, vibrant green leaves, and yellow-green flowers that dangle from stalks along the green stems of the plant. Green fruit also grows in clusters from the flowers.
Ylang Ylang means flower of flowers, and was named because of the sweet, floral aroma of the blossoms. The tree is also known as the perfume tree due to the fragrant flowers, and the scent is highly recognisable as a key ingredient in the iconic Chanel No. 5 perfume.
As well as its use in perfumes, Ylang Ylang has been used for centuries in aromatherapy, religious ceremonies, and wedding events.
The lovely scent has uplifting and calming effects when Ylang Ylang essential oil is used aromatically. When applied topically, it promotes healthier looking hair and skin. Internal use also offers a number of benefits, including antioxidant support.
