Petitgrain is one of three essential oils derived from the bitter orange, or Citrus Aurantium, tree, along with neroli and bitter orange. Whilst neroli essential oil is extracted from the flowers, and bitter orange is taken from the rind of the fruit, Petitgrain is extracted from the leaves and twigs via steam distillation.
Petitgrain is a fresh, floral, herbaceous essential oil, and the enticing aroma has made it a popular ingredient in men’s and women’s perfumes and colognes. Furthermore, it is commonly added to cleaning agents.
Aromatic use helps to create a calm, relaxing environment. This also makes Petitgrain ideal for use during meditation, and for promoting a restful night’s sleep. Topical application helps to reduce the appearance of blemishes on the skin.
Internal use not only allows you to enjoy the fresh flavour, but also benefits the cardiovascular, digestive, nervous, and immune systems. Furthermore, internal use provides antioxidant support.
